Linear SoftPot (Ribbon Sensor)

This is a thin, flexible “ribbon” position sensor from Spectra Symbol, often called a soft potentiometer. It has an adhesive backing so you can stick it to panels, enclosures, or curved surfaces and use it as a slide controller that responds to where you press along the strip.

How it works

• There are three pins: two outer pins and one center pin.
• Across the two outer pins there is a nominal 10 kΩ resistance, forming a linear resistive track.
• When you press the ribbon, the center pin’s resistance to each outer pin changes in proportion to the touch position, letting you read position as an analog voltage.

Note: This is a membrane‑type sensor; avoid sharp bends or kinks to preserve accuracy and lifetime.
